The Kid in You
Seize the day. That's what I realized today. Tomorrow is uncertain and you'll never know how it will unfold. Do not rely on what may happen in the future when you have the chance to make it happen today. Tomorrow might be gloomy, might be rainy -- you'll never really know. So while Mr. Sun is still domineering as he is, dive in. The unpredictability of tomorrow is constant that's why we are all given today, the present time, to live and make the most of it.
Be the kid in you again and play around. Care less about the things that complicate your life. For once, enjoy the colors, the sounds, the movements around you. These are the basic things that catch the children's eyes and they find happiness in them. It's the simple things that they find interesting and entertaining. Living the adult life for quite some time, we tend to dwell on the things that are complicated and then complain thereafter, REMEMBER: We have the option to live simply or in complication. Maybe it's a matter of perspective, or choice, or perhaps fate. It's up to you how to discern it.
Kids don't get to worry about the bills, they enjoy the sight of traffic, there's no love life to stress their life about, they beam with joy at the simplest sight of chicken joy and french fries. To them, Sponge Bob is is the coolest thing in life. Imagine that? When I'm caught up in a nerve-wracking day, I just can't help but wish that go back as a child. It's sort of therapeutic, you know. Try it. Trust me.
Though kids of today have a different kind of entertainment than the kids in my generation, the fact that they still smile at the sight flying birds and shape-shifting clouds still amuses me. They freak in awe upon hearing the frog croak. Their tears are easily wipe when handed with a balloon. Their pain easily cured when given a handful of candy. I almost wanna envy them for that.
Their innocence is unparalleled. They seek for information by asking questions in the most guileless way. They ask without prejudice. They inquire with no other motive but to learn and discover. Deception is not on their thesaurus. Though sometimes clever, they are compassionate. Their childish ways are enchanting without trying. They don't strive to charm people bu they do.
They know how to value and keep friends. They know the art of sharing like it's inherent to them. They give kisses and hugs out of nothing. Gratitude is shown in the sweetest of smiles. I remember one time receiving a card for m birthday with a Ben10 and Sponge Bob drawing in it. It just said the simple "Happy Birthday." Yet I was touched like I received a precious set of jewelry. They're like that. Kids can touch you at the very core of your soul without even trying. While kids do that on such special days, adults will just say "HBD." HILARIOUS.
Learning for them is a gradual process. They do not rush things. They're not in a haste to accomplish things. After all, nothing is a competition to them. They have the abundance of time to goof around, tumble and fall, and rise up again. They're much the exact opposite of adulthood, both literally and categorically. It's a phase in your life you'll want to visit from time to time just to ease the burdens of being a grown-up.
Genuine. Honest. Unpretentious. There's not enough adjective to describe them. Editing a quote from the movie Forrest Gump. KIDS ARE LIKE A BOX OF CHOCOLATE, YOU'LL NEVER KNOW WHAT YOU'RE GONNA GET.
They learn from the things they see and from the information you feed them. They fear of darkness, not of being jobless. They are angered by some silly friend, not by the increasing tax. Victory for them is as simple as topping the day's quiz, not being the top performer of the month. They boast about being able to cross a creaky bridge, not because they have a long list of exes in their resume. Kids are proud, adults tend to be arrogant.
In their mind they can fly, they have super powers. They do wonders in their imagination. They change worlds in their imagination. They don't curse, they don't swear. They don't forget to pray. Their vibrancy is just so contagious.
I was once a child
I was once so curious and asking
And I got answers and then I asked some more
And then I became the adult that I am now.
XOXO
