What Makes Us Human

What makes us human is our capacity  to break. What makes us human is our ability to feel and endure pain. What makes us human is our capability to stand in the middle of trepidation and chaos that is brought about by our unmistakable weaknesses and the insurmountable fear that wraps the membrane of what we all thought is an unparalleled courage.

You feel flabbergasted in every shed of bitter news that's spread by the daily paper and the like. You feel shaken by every news of inhumane bombing from some distant Arab country. You feel sorry for every case of child molestation that is sensationally reported by some novice reporter striving to be noticed for documenting the harsh thing that is life. You feel moved by every donation of a philanthropist who seems so genuinely into the art of giving.

People are this involved to the world. It's like a TV drama that we're so hooked to. We are in constant struggle to update ourselves on what's the latest and how you can be at par with the latest. The trend now is to give birth to new trends for the weak to follow and for the mighty to compete with. Every spot in the society is a chance to be known or to mingle or to blend. Those who want to be known sometimes get drown with the attention they get at the end. Stardom doesn't just come in one hefty package of cargo. Those who try to mingle get poisoned by the idea of being in the circle and end up as the worst drunkards and gamblers of the society. Those who aspire to just blend in wound up dizzied and frenzied by the foggy atmosphere that's created by smoke of every tobacco they have to endure in order to fit in. And where do you stand?

Well, the equation can be simple. It depends on how you want to see and solve it. The thing is it's either you are the predator or the prey. That's how it is to nowadays. Earth has been one hungry monster waiting to devour every single weak soul that it come across with. We are in the era where to be weak is to be already dead and to be strong is to forget that you were also once weak.  There is a constant battle for claiming an identity and being recognized. Thirst is not only for water. It is for power, for supremacy, for the need to be on top. To be at the bottom means to be being unable and incapable.

People are blinded by the haze that they have casted upon themselves. They are lured by every fabricated fact that comes out of the machinery. They are deafened by the cracky noise that growls on their very ears urging them to move faster and finish the race. It has all been about who gets the bounty first. Metamorphosis happens every second. There is no mutualism anymore. The key word now is survival. Losers are those who were unable to dance with the rhythm that's played by the unlikely creature that has now set the standard for entertainment in our city.

Superheroes are nowhere to be called. You depend on nobody but yourself. 911 isn't a choice either. Cops are now the new criminals, that's why. As apocalyptic as it may sound, life is on the verge of decomposing and there's nothing to undo it. Our blood are no longer crimson as it used to be. It's now multicolored like how people were divided once. There's no countries anymore. We're back to being tribe people battling with  every spear that is left of us. Adrenaline rush is a constant thing that tribe men seemed always drugged and high.

And at the point where you reach the point that is higher than the highest, you will break. You will then feel and endure pain. You'll be capable of standing in between chaos and trepidation. And you'll live like human again. Screw all those dramas...
